What Colours Have They Used, and How Do They Appeal To You?

The main colours used are red and white. The red is the background, and also Beyonce's favourite colour. The white is for the writing, which helps make the red colour stand out. Red, is velvety and it's mainly a seductive colour.

What Images Have Been Used, and How Do They Appeal To You?

The figure and pose of Beyonce is very inviting and seductive. The really helps capture my attention. The image of Beyonce is enlarged, to take up the whole middle page. There aren't many pictures, as it won't benefit the main purpose - Beyonce.

Does The Style Appeal To You?

The velvety, seductive red is attractive, as well as Beyonce's image. It's professional the way the top star's names are bigger, and so they stand out more.

Does the Magazine Draw You In? What Features Do This?

The magazine really does draw me in. It's all to do with:
  • Colour
  • Picture
  • Text.
As mentioned before, red is a sophisticated colour - A sophisticated colour for a sophisticated woman, it's attractive and relates to Beyonce. The picture is inviting and pretty sexual. Beyonce's wearing a see-through top, which she opens a bit with her left hand. The look on her face is pleasing and it's almost as if she's talking to you, through her lips, and direct contact with her eyes. Additionally, on the top-right of the cover it emphasises, "BEYONCE Dressed To Kill". This sub-heading is humurous, and it is very true as that's how any man would describe it. Even just her clothes are jaw-dropping.

Who is the Target Audience, and How Does It Speak To The Reader?

The target audience is mainly aimed at teenagers and music lovers. Although it has a picture of \Beyonce, it also refers to other super stars such as:
  • Lady Gaga
  • Christina Aguilera
  • Kanye West
  • Janelle Monae etc.
The only flaw is that the font seems too formal, for a music magazine; as it seems to be mainly aimed at teenagers, more than adults, it should use a simpler looking font such as Comic Sans MS. There aren't any long sentences; everything is kept short, sharp and brief. This way, the audience will be able to get the jist of what the magazine's about, and as it's the front cover it's not necessary to go overboard with words.

What Colours Have Been Used, and How Do They Appeal To You?

Frequent numbers of colours have been used, and they really stand out. As soon as you walk past it, it's iompossible to miss. I really like bright colours such as purple, red and blue. It's not just a couple of clours throughout the cover, but a mixture everywhere. For example, the background has a natural Summer/Autumn look, and then Nicki Minaj is righty in the middle taking up most of the space. She wears a top, the colour of Lilac, and high-heeled boots the colour of, Violet. Then there's a random blue and red in the heading Billboard.

What Images Have Been Used, and How Do They Appeal To You?

There are only two images used:
  • Nicki Minaj
  • A natural background.
Although the background looks plain with it just being green, it's spiced up with Nicki looking like she's walking across it. She stretches her arms out and makes it seem as if she's using her powers to make everything beautiful. Also, the main purpose for all this is to make her seem Goddess-like.

Does the Style Appeal To You?

Yes, the style is fantastic in my opinion. It's used a range of techniques, mainly photoshop, to bring out the themes of the magazine. The words are around the bottom-left and bottom-right, of the page. She's the main attraction, yet it also has a reference to Michael Jackson, another huge popstar and inspiration, coming down from thge top-right.

Does the Magazine Draw You In? What Features Do This?

The colours used are reasonable, and they fit in with the magazine. E.G:

  • Nicki wears bright colours, which represent her.
  • There is a naturalistic background connected with the natural colours.
The font seems big enough, as it grabs people's attention. Also, the white is perfect as it stands out from the background.

Who Is the Target Audience, and How Does It Speak To the Reader?

Again, the target audience is mainly teenagers. Nicki Minaj is a symbol of the type of idols the youth prefer in the 21st Century. It draws men in, because Nicki shows her clevage, and her legs. Also, it's attractive the tight clothes seem quite sexual.

What Colours Have Been Used, and How Do They Appeal To You?

Lady Gaga is a fashion icon, like Nicki Minaj, for not sticking with one colour. She uses as many clours as she pleases, which makes her unique - this magazine has used simple, but effective colours. The blue background, seems like it goes from pale to deep gradually. This colour co-ordination helps make Gaga stand out, along with the text. The main headline - 'Lady Gaga', is in pink, with matches the yellow. Therefore, they both appeal to everyone's attention.

What Images Have Been Used, and What Do You Like About Them?

There are three different images of Lady Gaga. All three of them are unusual, and what you wouldn't see everyday. I like this, as it connotes how much Gaga has an influence on everyone, and how they can be different from everyone else. They show that the magazine's mainly about Gaga.

Does the Style Appeal to You?

I personally think the style's well layed-out. The fact that Gaga's head covers the middle of the 'Billboard' sign, proves that she's the main attraction here. Also, her face seems inviting which makes it all the more sexual. There are more images than text, which makes it easier for the audience to understand. Also, images tend to be much more powerful than text.

Does the Magazine Draw You In? What Features Do This?

The magazine does draw me in. It has less writing, which makes it easy for me to look at and interpret imformation from just the images. The more images there are, the more attractive it all looks.

Who Is the Target Audience, and How Does it Speak To the Reader?

The target audience is music lovers and teenagers. So many people love Gaga, and so it helps with the sales of the magazine. She having direct eye contact with the reader, which makes them feels involved. It not just a look - it seems more inviting, especially for men.
